Gilbert Preening Mallard Drake
Product Description
Wingset cork decoys by Julie Gilbert are built from basswood for the head and pine or cedar for keels and tailboards. The bodies are carved from high-density yellow cork. The keels are drilled and weighted so gravity will right the decoy after being floated upside down. Weights are also used to counterbalance the decoy when it's fitted with an asymmetrical head. It must float with a lifelike buoyancy to attract ducks as well as survive critical judgment at carving competitions. Keels are wide enought so that decoys stands by itself. This magnificent decoy measures 13x6x4.
